This dialog is displayed when either a new section is created, the current section orientation is modified or the view plane orientation is modified.

Field details:

Orientation: Three orientation options:

  • Horizontal: define the section orientation so that it passes through both digitized points, but is aligned horizontally with respect to the 3D world coordinates.

  • Vertical: define the section orientation so that it passes through both digitized points, but is aligned vertically with respect to the 3D world coordinates.

  • Perpendicular: define the section orientation so that it passes through both digitized points, but is aligned perpendicularly with respect to the normals of the bisected surface.

  • Auto align section: to automatically align the view with the new section definition, select this, otherwise leave it unselected to leave the view position and orientation as it is.

Note: you can change the default auto alignment setting for all projects using the Options >> 3D >> General screen. See 3D Options.
